2021 found all of us searching for meaning. In May I started an idea – create a new song every week for the remainder of the year. I started by writing something similar to my previous work. But that didn’t set well with me.

My focus was on restrictions (big surprise give when this took place.) To that end, I tried various deviations from my previous work. I limited compositions to 1, 2 or (occasionally) 3 chords. I forced myself to explore different time signatures other than 4/4 at 120 bpm. I experimented with the idea of palindromes as it relates to musical score. I experimented with melody creation via MIDI authoring rather than guitar or keyboard. Some to these “songs” are better than others. It was the commitment to production as much as anything else that brought all of these songs into the light.
